Not sure if we mentioned this the other day, but since he passed away today, I'm reminded of Harvey Pekar. He was a comic book artist, but instead of doing superheroes in his comics, he did just everyday life. Anyway, even after he got extremely popular and his comic, American Splendor, was well-known, he still worked as a file clerk at a hospital to support himself.

The razors and pins seem especially appropriate symbols. The pin at the mother's heart reminds me of Simeon's words to Mary-- and a sword shall pierce your own soul also. The razors make me think of the young people who get stuck in self-hatred and self-mutilation. Definitely painful, internally & physically.

Qwerty, thank you so much for the pin you gave me. As a fellow child of Christ I understand how hard it is to tell people to stop and smell the roses. But what your doing with these pins is a cool and great way to spread the word and make people understand. I hope your blessed by the wonderful things he is doing for you just like you had blessed me.

Love always,
Jasmine
